Skipping

Using digital devices is very common and an easy option during this pandemic however, it can lead to psychological and physical issues. Lockdown has forced us to look at alternative activities for children to participate in, which helps them to develop in all areas. I would suggest skipping, a very simple yet effect activity, it is a fun and affordable activity for everyone to participate in.

Skipping helps develop:

  • Gross motor skills
  • Hand eye coordination
  • Build core strength
  • Strengthen bone density
  • Develop healthy heart and fitness
  • Improves concentration
  • Aids brain development
  • Improves creativity

There are so many benefits to such a simple activity, it will be hard not to incorporate it in your daily life.

Once children are able to skip you can set challenges and create mini stunts, this will make it interesting for the child and they will engage for longer.

How many skips can you do in one go? Try and beat this score.

Skipping and moving at the same time.

Create an obstacle course and skip round it.

Do stunts e.g. skip backwards, cross skipping, skip using one leg, jump sideways etc.
